Closing Keynote: Open Educational Resources in the Future of Education: Materials Made for the New 2020 Reality

DESCRIPTION
Open educational resources have found their way into classrooms all over the world over the past decade.  As classrooms change and learning evolves, free and flexible materials are uniquely designed to change with the education landscape.  Rice University’s OpenStax textbooks have saved students more than $1 Billion on textbook costs and have been used by more than 36,000 educators and 14 million students.  The unprecedented events of 2020 present OpenStax and the OER movement with new opportunities: what has always been important to OpenStax and the OER movement — truly equitable access and diversity, equity, and inclusion in content and practices — is now critical to the success of students and institutions everywhere.
